Werewolf Wednesday…

“As I walk the land

My wolf beside me

My protector, my friend

Our thoughts and feelings go hand in hand

He too knows how we feel

As we look at the damaged forests

Praying it isn’t real

How can he enjoy the hunt

If there is nowhere for him to run

No prey left, only pavement under the moonlight or sun

How can there still be mysteries

If we’ve cleared as far as the eye can see

How can the untamed survive

How can we keep our wild alive

Soon we’ll care not if there is a moon In the sky

It’s hard to howl at the moon

If you cannot stop the cry…”

Wrentham State Forest…

I took some time out on my own to explore the forest before the rains moved in. This is the Wrentham State Forest. This forest is over 1000 acres and has some really rugged parts. It’s verrrrry rocky, so where good shoes! I’ve wrenched my ankle good out here before, it’s not well marked so try to keep track of where you are! But, it’s nice to take on a tough forest once and awhile.
This forest connects to other forest networks, including the Warner Trail a 30 mile hike from Here in mass to Rhode Island! I’ve been all through this network and I can honestly say, I’m not sure what it is about this forest but it really creeps me out, ! It does connect out to Mercy Woods in RI that could be it because Mercy is creepy too! It’s also rich in history,
Native skirmishes during king Phillip’s war and George Washington marching through.
You can even walk under the highway here if you don’t mind walking through a large dark scary pipe tunnel!
Is Bigfoot in here? I don’t know but he could easily live here undetected. He has been sighted in connected forests! It’s very dense here, and he certainly has everything he needs to sustain him here, and a green corridor for miles to travel through. You could walk all day out here on the weekend and still see no one! But I can’t stress enough on paying attention because it’s all dense and rocky looks the same in a lot of areas!!

Gold Mine Bigfoot…

Lars Larson, a New 49’er member who was mining on the claim, discovered several footprints which measured a whopping 17 inches long, and 11 inches wide! Three of the prints were in gravel and were not as distinct; but one was on solid ground. Lars was able to make a plaster casting of the print.

Happy Camp is well known as “Bigfoot Country”. The first sighting of one of these elusive creatures was made on Thompson Creek nearby tributary of the Klamath River.

Lars reported that he searched the surrounding area thoroughly, but was unable to find any further evidence, such as broken branches, tufts of hair or any additional footprint

Today, a very large metal rendering of Bigfoot created by local artists stands on the edge of Highway 96, and is the first thing you see when arriving in Happy Camp from the east.
