Man VS. Bigfoot…

I’m always looking forward to a new bigfoot movie, but I’ve been looking forward to seeing this one in particular because I had seen his first bigfoot film.

David Ford, the writer, director , producer and star of this picture is not new to Bigfoot. This is his follow up to his previous bigfoot movie, Something in the Woods.

If you haven’t had a chance to see this one yet, I highly recommend it. The movie is centered around a logging foreman and his family who live out near the woods. The family begins to get habitually visited on their property by a bigfoot who has less than friendly intentions…

In his sophomore film, Man vs. Bigfoot (a battle in real life I’m not sure we’d win) starts out with a man heading out for some solo camping. Going solo as some, like myself know, can be scary enough with or without bigfoot lurking about, but he was lurking about and this camper was figuring that out…

After the man doesn’t return home as scheduled the wife calls his brother, Jack Rollins, played by David Ford, who then packs up and heads out to the forest In search of him…

While camping that first night, he started to hear noises in the woods around him, and then a trapper, played by Antonio Tec, came out from the woods to greet him. The trapper is Native American, and he shares some of the history from his tribe about bigfoot. He describes him as being more of a protector of the woods type creature to them.

If you follow along with me you know I love the idea of him being a protector out there, but unfortunately that’s not likely to be the case. And it’s definitely not in this one. (Hey, a girl can dream right?). What ensues after the trapper leaves is a battle between Rollins and the elusive beast himself. Now besides that theory of a protector, there were many things I liked about this movie, the biggest being that most of this epic battle is taking place during the daylight hours. Which means that the suit had to hold up and after a few hiccups and changes it does.

The other things I appreciated was , the scenery. The location of a bigfoot movie is one of the first things I’m noticing. I also liked the fact that the traits and behaviors most cryptozoologist attribute to a bigfoot are being used here such as, using environment to camouflage, using rock for tools, and giving the creature signs of intelligence, which to avoid the human race it must have.

I really enjoyed this film, and in my opinion if you are a bigfoot enthusiast you will definitely appreciate this movie. I reached out to David to ask him a few questions, and here is what he shared with me…

I got interested in filmmaking in college when I started writing screenplays. It took me about 18 years before I made my first one though. My favorite part of the process is principle photography and actually shooting the film. I enjoy it all but I particularly like watching it all come together on camera. I did know many of the actors but also held auditions. Covid only interrupted the post production aspect of it. We had already filmed the movie when Covid hit. I chose Bigfoot because of personal experiences and because I needed a big star and couldn’t afford a known actor. Everybody knows who Bigfoot is. I am a believer because of experience in the field as well as other personal experiences that pertained to a rock being thrown at me in a remote area with fellow researchers. I even caught some audio of the creature back in 2013. We had many issues with the suit. The suit that I ordered was not what I got. I would like to keep that part out of it, but I will say Keith Lack stepped in and saved the day with the creation of the mask and baby bigfoot (spoiler). I worked with Jeff Stewart closely on the project as he was my AD primarily and practical effects supervisor, amongst also playing a role in the film. He advised me in the film. We will be showing the film at the Texas Bigfoot Conference in Jefferson in October from my understanding. I don’t plan to make another bigfoot film as I am moving on to other types of films such as faith based and thrillers. Finding private investors is not easy though so if anyone wants to invest in one of my future films they are free to reach out. If anyone decides to watch the film on VOD please leave us a rating as each rating and review helps the film tremendously. Thank you…”

The Mother’s Tears…

“And so the fires kept burning

Earth’s mother cried her tears

For even she couldn’t put the fires out

He who walks the forest could not save all of nature’s creatures

He ran and ran carrying all the he could save

But as strong as he is he could not save all

Those of us for whom the fires didn’t touch

cannot relate to their pain

And the mother? She wept again

It will change the whole planet she thought before it’s all done

The smoke will come

The temperatures will rise

We will soon feel this fire

Like its right before our eyes

And the giant of all the forest

Had to also find a way to survive

Had to leave his home

Try to go unseen by man

And untouched by the flame

He knows, he knows the earth will never be the same…”

In Search Of #1…Bigfoot

I thought it would be fun to go back and watch some of the old In Search Of episodes and highlight a few of the best here. Here is everyone’s favorite and the reason most of us decided to search for the elusive creature ourselves…

Mount Hood Oregon in 1974

A logger, Jack Cochran who was working in an area of fallen timber, explains what he saw…”I looked off towards the woods and saw was two long legs moving at the edge of the timber and as this thing walked, it walked with a glide and then it reached an arm out and kind of touched the tree as it walked by and I saw these wide shoulders then it just moved off down the hill.”

Cochran was an amateur artist and tried to sketch what he saw…”he was tall creature, long legged and hairy very broad shoulders and his head seemed to just spring up out of his shoulders, no neck. The arms were long and more in proportion than a human.”

From In Search Of…Bigfoot 1976

Here’s Cochran giving Bigfoot some amazing Glitte…

What a sight that must have been. I’m not sure I could go back up there. It has to be a life altering event seeing one and no one to tell because they wouldn’t believe you anyhow. I give him credit for coming on tv and sharing his encounter with the public masses. He too, like the show and the creature are a legend…

Have a great Sunday everyone….

Bigfoot Encounter…

“When we got out to the woods I wouldn’t roll my window too far down because I didn’t feel comfortable being on the side of the woods. We had a full moon that night and had good visual of the area. Especially ahead of us. We were at least 200 yards, maybe more, from a trailer house. XXXXX mentioned that we would be able to see something if it crossed the road.  The vehicle was turned off so we can hear.  We were having a quiet conversation when all of a sudden we heard some dogs barking, then we heard a lone dog barking in the area past the sand bar where it is wooded.  I asked XXXXX does someone live over there and she said no.

Not long after that we heard a bird chirping sound that came from that same area which we thought was odd since it was night time. The time we were there I would look to my side and straight ahead where the woods were and XXXXX would be looking on her side where the pond, sand bar was.  Not too long after hearing the bird chirp I was looking ahead and I saw something cross the road ahead of us.  It came from the wooded area where we heard the lone dog.  It crossed in front of the trailer to the wooded area that is on my side. It looked low to the ground and bigger than your average size dog. Soon after it crossed. XXXXX was looking ahead too and she saw something cross.  So 2 different things had crossed shortly after one another.  At this time XXXXX said,  “Watch it it’s coming around to get you!”… and I told her,  “Don’t say that! ”  We continued to observe the areas and 15 minutes later something caught my attention.  I saw something like an eye shine on my side (wooded area).  I kept thinking to myself what is that?  It wasn’t there before.  I looked to see if xxxxx had her vehicle on that maybe the lights from inside was reflecting.  The vehicle was not on.  I was thinking maybe there’s

a small animal up on a limb or something, but from my angle I couldn’t see a limb.  What I saw was oval shaped, bigger than a humans eye.

I decided to roll down my window to get a better look. When i did this XXXXX looked to see what I was doing and she looked where I was looking and said, “Do you see that?” I said, “What do you see?”, and she said, “It looks like an eye,” and I said, “Yes, it’s been there for about 15 minutes and it wasn’t there before.” From where she was sitting she had a better view of the tree and she scanned the tree for limbs and couldn’t find any. About that time, the eye shine started to blink. Well, we both got the chills. Something was definitely there watching us and it was 8 foot up from the ground. I mentioned to her about the 2 things we saw cross the road ahead of us. That something is right there beside us but where is the other one? All this time we kept looking at the eye and it kept blinking at us. I will admit I felt scared and I told xxxxx let’s get out of here and she wanted to stay and I said no lets go. So we left..”

Working Together…A Documentary

I recently sat down to watch a new documentary titled Working Together. The documentary features a few different bigfoot researchers Matt from Central Florida Bigfoo, Mike from Tactical Bigfoot Research, Tim T. from Florida and Bigfoot Dave coming together to investigate an area in the Florida swamps. I had seen some sneak peeks of it on Instagram so I was looking forward to catching it and I’m happy to say I was not disappointed.

The title of the documentary, (Working Together) says it all. And it was just that, it was four teams coming together to search for evidence of the skunk ape led by Matt Larson of Central Florida Bigfoot. They hit the woods and swamps of Florida searching for bigfoot, or the skunk ape as he’s referred to in those parts.

Matt out in the field ready to work…

They picked an amazing area to explore, and if it wasn’t so tropical in Florida at that time, I may have smuggled myself into one of their bags, but the area had me picturing many many mosquito bites. And a loss of 20 pounds water weight.

I love the whole concept of Working Together. Everyone has something unique and interesting to bring to the table, you should take advantage of that whenever you can, and you will probably learn a few new tricks of the trade along the way. Different fresh perspectives can really make a difference out there in the field looking at evidence. I have noticed lately that there have been more collaborations than before, lets keep it up, after all, we do have a common goal here, find evidence that bigfoot exists and is possibly roaming in our neck of the woods.

Breaking out the measuring tape to document the print…Tim T documenting on film

Although the group headed out with all the equipment you’d ever want to bring out researching, which is great, I really enjoyed their personal attention to the evidence and interactions the most. They were focused on the evidence around them, they found some interesting things too, but I’m not going to give away the good stuff, you have to watch it for yourself. I loved that they took a very forensic crime scene approach to what they were seeing , it is how we all should be documenting our evidence.

Mike from Tacticle Bigfoot Research working with 3D photo app

While they were examining everything before them they were also offering good suggestions on the latest equipment and apps out there that could help assist you in your search. I personally have already taken advantage of two of the apps mentioned. The Cornell Library Bird call identifier and a 3D photo app that actually saved me in the field last summer when I came up on an interesting print and nothing to cast it with me.

I appreciated that Matt didn’t over produce this documentary with all the dramatic bells and whistles. There was no soundtrack playing which allowed us to hear nature’s chorus instead. The only thing I would have wanted differently was that I wasn’t able to hear some of the conversations happening and it left me wondering if maybe I missed some good tips etc. but he may have done that intentionally for privacy.

I’m recommending this documentary highly. It’s what bigfoot research should be, you can click the link to watch, it’s streaming free on YouTube…

Bigfoot in the News #12 Bigfoot and Wildlife Fish and Game…

What if, while hiking through the’ Oregon woods, you stumbled across the legendary Bigfoot monster, – roped the beast and took it home. Next, you reported your catch to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Would the agency know what to do? Yes, says the agency, and to prove its readiness has written a lengthy news release describing just what it would do about your call.

if You Catch a Bigfoot By SAM HARTZ WASHINGTON (AP)

What if, while hiking through the’ Oregon woods, you stumbled across the legendary Bigfoot monster, – roped the beast and took it home. Next, you reported your catch to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Would the agency know what to do? Yes, says the agency, and to prove its readiness has written a lengthy news release describing just what it would do about your call.

But why. you might ask, has the U.S. government gone to such lengths over the possible capture of what, at least so far, is just a legend of long standing. Well. Fish and Wildlife reminds us, the gorilla was only a legend until the late 19th century. The komodo dragon, a 10-foot lizard, once a legend also.

To be sure’, added the agency, many sightings of today’s legendary “monsters’,’, are misinterpreted reports or even downright hoaxes. But there’s more to be said for the existence of a genuine Bigfoot. Not only have there been “sightings” of the purported 8- foot, 900-pound Pacific Northwest humanoid, but Skaminia County, Washington, is prepared to impose a fine of $10,000 and a 5-year jail term on anyone who kills a Bigfoot,. Last year the Florida and Oregon legislatures took up bills protecting Bigfoot-type creatures, and a Bureau of Indian Affairs policeman has a plaster cast of an 18-inch foot left after he claimed seeing Bigfoot in South Dakota.

So if Bigfoot were found, what then? The agency set up a scenario: “Word of its discovery would be flashed around the world within hours. Hysteria, fear or panic might accompany the news in the area where the creature was located. The throngs of curiosity seekers, would-be countless and others wanting to find Bigfoot would not only create a serious threat to the animal itself, but to public safety as well … .” And, asks Fish and Wildlife: “Would such a creature be subjected to the same kind of exploitation as the giant movie ape, King Kong?” Hardly, if the Interior could help it. : After receiving priority protection under Endangered.’ Species Bigfoot would undergo humdrum processing for term safeguarding. The following would be, How big is the Bigfoot population? Do Bigfeet occur anywhere else? Is the Bigfoot population in danger? Is Bigfoot’s habitat secure? Are the Bigfoot species being exploited? And what is Bigfoot’s reproductive cycles? “But for the record,” Keith Schreiner, associate director, “I doubt we’ll have to do anything, because I’m not sure I believe there any around here in the first place.” :

Article with a Bigfoot Researcher…Bigfoot in the News #10

When loggers mentioned strange footprints in the woods, Edson would pack up his gear after work and spend that night and the next day tracking Bigfoot. Some nights, Edson said, the creature’s moans would keep him awake all night. At other times. . he’d catch a whiff of Bigfoot’s characteristic foul odor. Bigfoot though, he keeps a low profile Edson is sure that Marukarara. the Karok term for Bigfoot, doesn’t appear before men unless the creature is curious – or angry. “They hate all logging equipment because they think it is spoiling their environment.” Edson said, and that’s the explanation he offers for his one experience with a violent Bigfoot. .
Edson said he was waiting to unload a truckful of logs at a landing when “this thing came down from the hills. He began beating the hood of the truck with his arms,” Edson said . “He didn’t want me or he could’ve broken the window and grabbed me” Instead. Edson theorizes, the creature was disturbed by the logging.”

“A black, ape-like creature passed by Charles Edson’s hiding place. Then slowly turned and stared directly at the hunter. . “It knew I was there all the time,” Edson said. Bigfoot. Sasquatch. Marukarara. the Giant -Mountains People. Edson’s years of stalking the alleged creatures have made him a Bigfoot booster and given him material for his first book, “My Travels With Bigfoot ” . Edson’s account of his search for Marukarara from 1952 to 1967 is unusual in the annals of Bigfoot books because it is a first-person account that features several face-to-face encounters with the alleged creature. . The. Bigfoot field Is a natural for skeptics, but Crescent Publications of Los Angeles is not one of them. Crescent forwarded Edson a $1,500 advance payment for ‘Travels” and organized a book party for Saturday at 7 pm in the Newark Pavilion.

Bigfoot photos, casts of footprints, and a film will be shown. Edson will autograph copies of what he calls “A True Life Odyssey.” Edson looks like he’d be more at home pursuing mysterious, howling creatures across Northern California mountains than standing around publishers’ parties. A burly man, the logger and part-. time deputy sheriff, in Siskiyou County bears a faint resemblance to actor Richard Boone.

More than 25 years ago. Edson was introduced to the bizarre world of Bigfoot by a Karok Indian, Barry Harper. Harper and Edson were hunting one day when the quiet Karok showed Edson footprints made by some huge creature. They were 15 to 17 inches long, with large toes, like the misshapen footprint of a huge man, Edson said. In the high country north of the Trinity Alps. Harper showed Edson many of the tracks. Edson was intrigued, but not a great believer. I kept hunting and hunting and one day I found it.” he said. On a ridge about a mile away from Edson.

He saw what looked like a black bear on its hind legs. As he continued to watch, though. Edson said he was convinced that he was spying on Bigfoot. “It was like (catching) gold fever.” he said. For the next 12 years, he would chase after evidence of Bigfoot, forming theories about what the creature is and how it behaves.

Edson theorizes, the creature was disturbed by the logging. Indians told Edson that A Murakarara used to feed near the Klamath river but an increased number or people . Mainly loggers chased them back up the mountains. So what are these thing? . ‘ Edson offered two possibilities – “missing links between apes and men on the evolutionary scale, or a tribe of primitive Indians afflicted by a hereditary aisease. . Other Bigfoot theories advanced by Edson’ include these . During winter, they keep warm by sticking moss to their hairy body with tree sap. Only solo Bigfoot have been reported or spotted, but Edson believes they travel in family groups. ,” , Bigfoot understands that men are interested in him. but is wary of outsiders – especially those ‘ , carrying anything metallic.

Edson eventually gave up carrying a gun on Murakarara expeditions and said it helped his hunting. Bigfoot is sneaky. Its bones have never been found, and Edson said he’s seen the creature erasing its tracks before. Although Fremont is far from the haunts of Bigfoot. an entire room of Edson’s home is devoted to Bigfoot souvenirs – from dozens of plaster casts of footprints to newspaper clippings about the beast.

Due to an ailment, it’s been years- since he tracked Bigfoot. but he used the year and a half of his convalescence period to compose: . “Travels” This summer. Edson promised, he’ll be back to Bigfoot country, searching for the definitive proof that has eluded him and other Bigfoot fanciers. And the ailment that has kept him from hunting the Marukarara is just a coincidence, he said with a laugh, my feet were operated on.”

I really enjoyed this article. Edson and I seem to share a lot of the same theories to what a Bigfoot could be. The missing link or a split somewhere on the evolutionary scale.

And also the bit where he mentions not wanting to take anything metallic such as a gun with him. That is definitely my thoughts exactly. If they are there in the woods with me somewhere I don’t want them to think I’m going to harm them in any way. Or drag them home. I want them to stay wild and live in peace.

Every Bigfoot researcher, like myself, have different theories to whether they are man or ape, and they also have different approaches to what they like to do in the field. Carry film equipment? Weapons? Passive like me,etc. It’s a good thing because until we get a chance to ask one personally we need to try everything.

Have an awesome Sunday everyone and keep on Squatchin on…

Sleep Little One…

In this vision I see
This baby…whose soul deep trusting eyes are looking at me
Looking at me with aww and wonder
And I think, how could this be?
This magnificent, magnificent creature
I need to make sure he always stays free
Not an experiment in some sterile cruel cage
Like we’ve done to every other wondrous creature no matter the age
It’s the littlest thing I could do
Because I know what humanity will do to you
Would that I could keep you in your mother’s arms
Safe and loved away from harm
No “I told you so” to the science community
Would ever be worth
Having a young snatched from their momma soon after birth
Feelings are feelings
Love is love
Life is so precious
And fragile like a dove
So sleep little one
Snuggle in tight
Mamma will protect you till the time is right
Maybe someday I’ll see you when I’m wide awake
So you may see what wonder and aww looks my eyes make…
For all the creatures under humanities thumb..

Bigfoot in the News 9…The Skunk Ape

Art from Soule Designs

SKUNK APE:Police and wildlife officials comb the Everglades for evidence of an alleged “skunk ape” which a local man claimed to have hit with his automobile. The man said the unclothed being ran away into the ‘glades after being hit. No evidence was found to back up the fact that such an animal exists.
“Skunk Ape’- Is It Real ? Nell Jones has come to love every creature in southern Florida’s Everglades after living among them for 18 years. She’d probably love the “skunk ape,” too, if there is one. Two small poodles, a large dog, a raccoon and a opossum get a daily feeding from her hand, living off her belief that there is ‘”nothing out here that won’t love you if you let it.” That’s why she is upset that reports of an eight-foot tall skunk ape have moved from central Florida’s Cypress Swamp to the area she calls home.
“I believe this is a big, old, funny joke,” said Mrs. Jones, 52, who operates a fish camp, just south of where a sighting of the legendary creature was reported two days ago. “There is nothing out here but just things that you could love if you could get a-hold of them—or that won’t love you if you let them,” Mrs. Jones said.
In the predawn hours Wednesday a motorist traveling along the nearby highway said he saw one twice and even hit one with his car, the dark, hairy creature that previously has been reported-sighted around the west central part of the state, near Brooksville and in The Big Cypress Swamp. The police who combed the area on foot and on halftrack Wednesday and again before dawn Thursday failed to turn up any evidence that any such creature had been in the area, although a patrolman reported seeing a huge silhouette and another said there were trampled bushes and uprooted trees in an area of the swamps.
One believer in the legendary creature, Robert Morgan, is an active member of the American Yeti Expedition, an affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation. Morgan, who joined policemen in their investigation Wednesday, said the so-called skunk ape is a member of the Yeti family that includes the reported “Abomniable Snowman of the Himalayas.” He said “hunters and children alike have seen the Creature…”

Bigfoot in the News…#8

The latest search for Bigfoot was triggered by tlhe finding of apparently human hair near huge, man-like footprints near St. Helens. Robert W. Morgan, director of the American- Yeti said hair was from a search of his camp Monday that The hair was near where giant footprints were found about a month ago by tracker in a dense forest.

The trackers were on a trail when they came upon a small stream As they started to cross the creek, they noticed a very fresh scuff mark on a moss-covered rock.

That was where the hair strands were found. Morgan said the tracker spotted huge man-like footprints nearby as well. The prints were up stream about 20 yards then circled back near the other tracks before the trail just disappeared. “That’s exactly the movement a primate would make if it was wishing to observe without not being observed,” Morga suggested. ‘I’m not saying it was Bigfoot, but it’s unlikely that a barefooted human would go running around in that area, if it was a human, why would he want to hide from two other humans?” Mary Joe Florey, a microbiologist from Portland, Ore., examined the hair and concluded it was human, most probably from an ankle or leg,. Morgan said analysis of the hair will continue, – including comparison with hair he found two years ago on a fence near spot where deer had been savagely killed and also where other large footprints had been discovered. ‘If it was a Bigfoot, then it opens up many new doors,’ said Morgan, who has led group of scientists and trackers; this summer in a search for the creature. “It’s something we’re very excited about.” He said, the hunt for a Bigfoot will continue in the south western -Washington area “until the snow flies”.
