Uncle Bruce’s Bigfoot Sighting…

My uncle Bruce, a salt of the earth, backwoods country type who enjoys hunting and putting lead shot in just about anything that moves has a big foot story that has always troubled him.

The animal itself didn’t trouble him as much as his docile/demure reaction to the animal did.

What troubles Bruce is that he cannot explain why he was in his words “such a efing vagina about it”, he didn’t do what he knows he should have done, and even now to this day you will see him get lost in thought and troubled by his passivity which was so against his normal behavior, and that would have been to put a cap in bigfoot’s ass.

I think it is rather telling, that through all of the sightings of Bigfoot, no one has managed to put a cap in his ass.

Long story short, Bruce was standing at the water’s edge of a small lake outside of Hannibal Missouri in 1980. His buddy was fifty foot into the water on a small row boat.

While Bruce was casting his line into the water comforted by the presence of his 357 magnum revolver, a large upright hairy man came crashing through the small trees and brush, the hairy man came to the waters edge no more than twenty feet away from Bruce and began drinking from the lake. The creature must have sensed Bruce’s presense, he looked at Bruce and let out a blood curdling howl like scream while staring into the depths of my uncle’s soul. Bruce stood there frozen, and as the animal bounded off back into the woods Bruce’s fishing companion yelled from the boat, “Damn Bruce, I thought I was going to have to go back home and tell you’re new wife that you had been eaten by a monster”.

The reaction to all of this is what is pertinent to the story.

Bruce then continued to fish for the next three hours as if nothing had ever happened. And he and his buddy NEVER talked about it again.

Bruce to this day cannot figure out why he didn’t, firstly pull out his gun in case the creature attacked, and secondly he can’t figure out why he didn’t follow the creature’s trail afterwards, and thirdly why he just stood there like nothing ever happened.

The whole thing troubles Bruce to no end. And to a man who takes any type of confrontation very seriously and reacts with the utmost male bravado and violence, this was so out of character as far as his reaction to the event that day that it has troubled him ever since.

When doing some research, I stumbled on this gem on a discussion board by someone identifying himself as Norman, from 2015.

But some of the encounter is very interesting. When he’s talking about his uncle feeling frozen and confused, curious why he wouldn’t/couldn’t reach for his gun or move to do any type of defense like they whammied him.

Lots of witnesses describe this same reaction. Is it fear or is it a type of mind control?

What do you think? Frozen with fear or mind control?

Infamous Thunderbird…

“It’s been awhile since I’ve read about this particular tale and watched the footage so I thought I’d share for everyone here. At 8:30 p.m., July 25, 1977, two giant birds swooped down on a backyard in Lawndale and attacked a 10-year-old boy. One of the birds latched on to the youngster and started to carry him away, but the boy’s mother began beating on the bird until it released him. Shortly after in that same year John “Chief AJ” Huffer. captured this infamous footage of Thunderbirds in Illinois.

Wildlife experts came to the conclusion that they were just turkey vultures but the Chief beloved he had filmed the mysterious thunderbirds of his peoples legends.

Thunderbirds have always fascinated me. I’ve seen and filmed and even walked up to some very large birds and waterfowl over the past few years. It’s a feeling of awe when they allow you to get near, it doesn’t happen often but for some reason no animal is afraid of me.

So having been near some big beauties i was familiar with their sounds, shape, flight shadows. So when my sister and I had our strange moment in Freetown Forest we knew something was different about this birdie.

Now my sister is the one who saw it, I saw the shadow and we both heard a sound from it we have never heard before.

My sisters words were “ is that a pterodactyl?!”

Who knows what it was but the sound I won’t forget, I’ve never heard it since.

So, maybe he did film vultures, but I for one believe something is out there flying around. A beautiful large majestic bird of legend…”

REPORTS TELL OF CANADIAN MONSTER MEN

Settlers Fifty Miles From Vancouver Describe

Hairy Giants…

Sasquatch men, remnants of a lost race of “wild- men” who Inhabited the rooky regions of British Columbia centuries ago, are reported roaming the province again. After an absence of several months from the district of Harrlson Mills, 50 miles east of Vancouver, the long, wierd, wolf-like howls of the “wild men” are being heard again and two of the hairy monsters were reported seen In the Morris valley on the Harrison river. Residents In the district tell of seeing the two glants leaping and bounding out of the forest and striding across the duck feeding ground, wallowing now and again in the bog and mire and long, swaying swamp grass’.

Reported Agile as Goats. The strange men, it was reported, after emerging from the woods, came leaping down the Jagged rocky hillside with the agility and lightness of mountain goats. Snatches of their weird language floated on tho breeze across the lake to the pioneer settlement at the foot of the hills. The giants walked with an easy gait across the swamp flats and at the Morris Creek, in the shadow of Little Mystery Mountaln, straddled a finating log, which they propelled with their long, hairy hands and huge feet across the sluggish Glacial stream to the other side. There they abandoned the log and climbed hand over hand up the almost perpendicular cliff at a point known as Gibraltar and reappeared at the top of the ridge. They carried two large clubs and walked around a herd of cattle directly in their path.

Indian’s Story Retold…

The return of the giants to the legendary stronghold of the Sasquatch monsters recalls the narrow escape of an Indian at the same spot last March. A huge rock narrowly missed his canoe while he was fishing and looking up, he said he saw a huge and hairy monster stamping his feet and gesticulating wildly. The Indlan escaped by cutting his fishing tackle and paddling away. The same Indian declares two Sasquatch twice have stolen salmon which he tied outside his house out of reach of dogs. The latest appearance of the monsters was peaceful. They avoided the trails usually used by people of the valleyand molested neither cattle nor human beings.

People who have reported seeing the giants on their rare appearances described the men’s appearance as ferocious looking like wild men, nine feet tallu and covered from head to toes with thick black hair..

Bigfoot in the News…Extraordinary Tales

Art by Steve Baxter

THE SASQUATCH…
A Collection of Extraordinary and Weird Tales
About the Hairy Giants of Chehalis Hinterlands
As told in MacLean’s Magazine by J. W. Burns.
January 6th, 1937…

The vast mountain solitudes of British Columbia, of which but very little of it has been explored, is populated by a hairy race of giants-not ape-like men. Reports from time to time, covering a period of many years, have come from the province that hairy giants had been occasionally seen by Indians and white trappers in the mountains vastness, far from the pathway of civilization. These reports, however, were always vague and for that reason no person could be found, or, at least, nobody came forward with the information that they had obtained a close-up view of these strange creatures.

Persistent rumors led the writer to make diligent enquiries among older Indians.

The question relating to the subject was always, or nearly always, evaded with the trite excuse: “The white man don’t believe, he make joke of the Indian.” But after three years of plodding, we have come into possession of information more definite and authentic than has come to light at any

other previous time. Disregarding rumor and hearsay, we have prevailed upon men who claim they had actual close contact with these hairy giants and are willing to tell

what they know about them. Their story is set down here in good faith….here is the first witnesses account. He wishes to remain anonymous and will be referred as XY.

X Y lives on the Chehalis Reserve. I believe that he is a reliable as well as an intelligent Indian. He gave me the following thrilling

account of his experience with these people.

Encountering the Giant…

“One evening in the month of May some years ago,”

said the hero, “I was walking along the foot of the mountain about a mile from the Chehalls reserve. I thought I heard a noise something like that of a grunt nearby. Looking in the direction in which it came,

I was startled to see what I took at first sight to be a huge bear crouched upon a

boulder twenty or thirty feet away. I raised my ritle to shoot it, but, as I did the creature stood up and let out a piercing yell. It was a man-giant, no less than six feet and one-half in height, and covered with hair. He was in a rage and jumped from the boulder to the ground. I fled. but not before I felt his breath upon my cheek. I never ran so fast before or since through brush and under.

I ran toward the Statloo or Chehalis river. Toward where my dugout was. From time to time I looked over my shoulder. The giant was quickly overtaking me, only a few feet separated us; another look and the distance measured to be less than fifty-

then the Chehalis river was there and in a moment it shot across the stream to the opposite bank. The swift river. however.

did not in the least daunt the giant for he began to wade it immediately. “I arrived home almost worn out from running and

felt sick. Taking an anxious look around the

house, I was relieved to find the wife and children inside. I bolted the door and barricaded it with everything at hand. Then with my rifle ready I stood near the door

and awaited his coming.”

X added that if he had not been so much excited he could easily have shot the giant when he began to wade the river.

“After an anxious waiting of twenty minutes.” resumed the Indian. “I heard a noise approaching like the trampling

of a horse. I looked through a crack in the old wall. It was the giant. Darkness’

had not yet set in and I had a good look at him. Except that he was covered with hair and twice the bulk of the average man, there was nothing to distinguish him from

the rest of us. He pushed, against the wall of the old house with such force it shook back and forth. The old cedar shook and timber creaked and groaned so much under the strain that I was afraid that it

would fall down and kill us. I whispered to the old woman to take the children under the bed.” The Indian pointed out what remained of the old house in which he lived at the time, explaining that the giant treated it so roughly that it had to be abandoned the following winter. “After

prowling and grunting like an animal around the house continued the Indian. “he went

away. We were glad, for the children and the wife were uncomfortable under the old bedstead.

Next morning I found his tracks in the mud around the house, the biggest of either man or beast I had ever seen. The tracks measured twenty two Inches in length, but narrow in proportion to their length.”

To be continued….

There are a few things I loved about this article over others. I liked that the witness called it a man giant and specifically mentioned it wasn’t an ape.

I was happy to read that the author of original article was looking for someone he found credible. Followed up by going to see the cabin and the area for himself. This was 1937, this was BBF, my new new term for anytime before he was named bigfoot officially.

This man wanted to remain nameless so he was t looking for any fame or fortune. This is a long article with a few encounters, so I’ll post another part tomorrow morning.

Have a great Saturday morning!

The Witch Diggers…Part One

“It was nearly midnight when he started on his return over stony hills and hollows. Though he was a bold youth, he became silent as he approached the lonely valley known as Rocky Ravine. When half way through the tortuous cliff between the hills a sound attracted his attention. On his right, near tho top of the hillside, a curious figure was seen creeping from rock to rock and keeping well in the shadows. It carried something which gleamed brightly now and then as the moon’s rays fell upon it. It came nearer aud nearer the farmer, who had crouched down behind a clump of blackberry bushes, with a strange feeling of dread within him. The mysterious being animal or man approached until it reached the roadway within ten feet of the boy, when with a bound it sprang to the top of a huge boulder, where it crouched for a moment in the full glare of the moon. Frank Rose gave one look back and then shut his eyes with a gap of horror. The thing upon tho rock was a man. But what a man ! When Frank got home that night he told his story of what he had seen upon the way of a creature which, though it walked on “all fours” and was covered with hair from head to foot, carried a gleaming axe and displayed other indications of being human. It was gaunt but muscular, and had burning eyes that shone through long, fancied locks of hair. He had seen this thing but for a moment as it crouched upon a rock. Then it leaped down on the other rock , and he made his way out of the deserted valley as quickly as possible. Young Rose’s story created little agitation among the neighbors. They practical pooh-poohed it, the superstitious added it to their list of ghost tales and inwardly resolved never again to be caught in the neighborhood of Rocky Ravine after nightfall….

But the adventure was not to end so lightly. On the very next night, Henry Simon and William Downey, stock buyers, living in another county, rode within a short distance of the dreary valley, when they were astonished to hear the reverberation of a succession of blows, evidently made by some instrument of steel or iron. They tied their horses and walked up the dark ravine until they arrived at a tremendous cavity which had evidently been excavated by human hands. Twenty feet below in tho darkness some one was striking blow alter blow upon tho rocky bottom of the pit. ” What are you doing down there?”‘ shouted Simon. For answer a stone came whizzing through the air, narrowly missing Downey’s head. A big, hairy creature sprang out of the hole with a frightful yell and disappeared with surprising rapidity over the side of the hill, still carrying its steel tool, though running apparently upon four legs. The traders were Stupefied with astonishment, aud lost no time in getting out of the neighborhood.”

Melon Heads…

Sketch above from eyewitness reports…

Whenever I think of Melon Heads my mind pictures the Garbage Pail Kids. These are one of the least covered cryptids out there.

There are a few states out there that can lay a claim to these warm and fuzzy cryptids. Michigan, Ohio and Connecticut.

This version of their origins is from the great state of Connecticut. Here is the history of them according to the lore on Wikicheatia…

“The melon heads are descendants of a Colonial-era family from Shelton-Trumbull who were banished after accusations of witchcraft were made against them causing them to retreat to the woods. This variation attributes the appearance of the melon heads to inbreeding. Melon Heads allegedly prey upon humans who wander into their territory.”

I chose that tale because you know I love the history of the colonists. I can almost see this situation happenings. Many early settlements banished people and families from their settlements, it was the worst punishment because you would most likely starve or freeze to death. It’s the unthinkable taboo, but to survive they may have had to make some desperate choices.

Inbreeding could also happen amongst the banished with just a few others maybe that have also been banished. As far as cannibalism goes, they already have proof that the Jamestown Settlement had practiced cannibalism in their desperate hours before they all disappeared. Maybe when they disappeared they become melon heads too.

Moving on to the melon head tales of Ohio. From Wikipedia…

The melon heads are primarily associated with the Cleveland suburb of Kitkland. According to local lore, the melon heads were originally orphans under the watch of a mysterious figure known as Dr. Crow (sometimes spelled Crowe, Krohe or Kroh or known as Dr. Melonhead. Crow is said to have performed unusual experiments on the children, who developed large, hairless heads and malformed bodies. Some accounts claim that the children were already suffering from hydrocephalus, and that Crow injected even more fluid into their brains.

Eventually, the legend continues, the children killed Crow, burned the orphanage, and retreated to the surrounding forests and supposedly feed on babies.

And lastly the lore from Michigan. Again from Wikipedia…

The melon heads of Michigan are said to reside around Felt Mansion, although they have also been reportedly seen in southern forested areas of Ottawa County. According to one story, they were originally children with hydrocephalus who lived at the Junction Insane Asylum near Felt Mansion. The story explains that, after enduring physical and emotional abuse, they became feral and were released into the forests surrounding the asylum. The Allegan County historical Society asserts that the asylum never existed, although it was at one point a prison; however, the story has been part of the local folklore for several decades.

We know most lore has some kernel of truth in there, and all these tales have a similar theme. People abandoned, banished or runaways from society who fled to the forest. If you came upon these people in the forest you would be alarmed. If they were tortured in an asylum or infirm in some way maybe even with birth defects their appearance may be unsettling to say the least.

Did they become cannibals to survive a harsh winter? They most likely would. We have never known the harshness these people suffered through. Do I believe these melon beads are a cryptid? I’m going to say no. To many stories can be easily explained like above but when I’m visiting these states and wandering their forests I’ll keep my open…just in case.

My Weird Experiences From the Woods #1 Orbs…

Once in the Freetown Forest, I had an overwhelming feeling that I wasn’t alone. I felt overwhelmed and nauseous. I want to state though, that I didn’t feel threatened, just overwhelmed. My sister snapped a pic of me that moment and got a shot of me surrounded by light with a weird clear orb near my face. (Many have seen this pic already but I’ll include here again).

I didn’t see that as it was happening, I just knew something was happening. People report strange sightings of light in the woods all over the world. And often times it is followed by, or before a bigfoot sighting, and on some occasions a UFO sighting.
Every camp in the high strangeness community has different theories as to why this phenomenon could be happening. Bigfoot is an alien, the orbs are alien. You get the idea. And really? We don’t know what’s happening. We just know something odd is happening.

If we leave out the “bigfoot is an alien” part. There is something that possibly ties all three together without the bigfoot is a flesh and bone camp and bigfoot is inter dimensional camp going at it. May even be tolerable to the Ufologists as well.
If we believe that we aren’t the only intelligent life in the universe, and we believe to that they are studying us, why would they not also be studying bigfoot? He’s a life form on this rock too is he not? Maybe the orbs in the forest ARE coming from a ufo and they are checking out the big guy too, maybe snatching up one or two of them. And while all of the insanity is happening here comes the bigfoot researcher wandering through the forest at night as he/she always does and walks right into this melee.
It is possible all could be seen together…at the same… in the same spot. This is one of the reason I never brush anyone or anything off as crazy.
And In just my final little say on what one kind of orb or light could be is, there is so much energy on this planet from life forces. So much life and death happening daily. That energy, I feel could present itself as an orb or light. Does that sound crazy to you?

Have a great Monday everyone…
