Working Together…A Documentary

I recently sat down to watch a new documentary titled Working Together. The documentary features a few different bigfoot researchers Matt from Central Florida Bigfoo, Mike from Tactical Bigfoot Research, Tim T. from Florida and Bigfoot Dave coming together to investigate an area in the Florida swamps. I had seen some sneak peeks of it on Instagram so I was looking forward to catching it and I’m happy to say I was not disappointed.

The title of the documentary, (Working Together) says it all. And it was just that, it was four teams coming together to search for evidence of the skunk ape led by Matt Larson of Central Florida Bigfoot. They hit the woods and swamps of Florida searching for bigfoot, or the skunk ape as he’s referred to in those parts.

Matt out in the field ready to work…

They picked an amazing area to explore, and if it wasn’t so tropical in Florida at that time, I may have smuggled myself into one of their bags, but the area had me picturing many many mosquito bites. And a loss of 20 pounds water weight.

I love the whole concept of Working Together. Everyone has something unique and interesting to bring to the table, you should take advantage of that whenever you can, and you will probably learn a few new tricks of the trade along the way. Different fresh perspectives can really make a difference out there in the field looking at evidence. I have noticed lately that there have been more collaborations than before, lets keep it up, after all, we do have a common goal here, find evidence that bigfoot exists and is possibly roaming in our neck of the woods.

Breaking out the measuring tape to document the print…Tim T documenting on film

Although the group headed out with all the equipment you’d ever want to bring out researching, which is great, I really enjoyed their personal attention to the evidence and interactions the most. They were focused on the evidence around them, they found some interesting things too, but I’m not going to give away the good stuff, you have to watch it for yourself. I loved that they took a very forensic crime scene approach to what they were seeing , it is how we all should be documenting our evidence.

Mike from Tacticle Bigfoot Research working with 3D photo app

While they were examining everything before them they were also offering good suggestions on the latest equipment and apps out there that could help assist you in your search. I personally have already taken advantage of two of the apps mentioned. The Cornell Library Bird call identifier and a 3D photo app that actually saved me in the field last summer when I came up on an interesting print and nothing to cast it with me.

I appreciated that Matt didn’t over produce this documentary with all the dramatic bells and whistles. There was no soundtrack playing which allowed us to hear nature’s chorus instead. The only thing I would have wanted differently was that I wasn’t able to hear some of the conversations happening and it left me wondering if maybe I missed some good tips etc. but he may have done that intentionally for privacy.

I’m recommending this documentary highly. It’s what bigfoot research should be, you can click the link to watch, it’s streaming free on YouTube…

Pics of the Week…7-12-21 Quesset-Ames Homes

I was going through and editing a few pictures yesterday, and it dawned on me I never share them here on the blog. So going forward I’ll try to share a pics of the week. These pics are from an area I call Ames Corner. In this one little corner of Easton Massachusetts the very wealthy Ames family built a few of their lavish homes.

They are now a library, a museum and a town hall etc. I am always overwhelmed by the architecture of these former mansions. There first and biggest homes was the Ames Mansion which resides inside the Borderland State a park just around the corner from these buildings.

I wrote a short blog on the ladder home so I’ll attach that link to the bottom here if you would like to know a bit about their history. And if you’re ever in the area I absolutely recommend at least a drive by…

Bigfoot in the News #12…Big Muddy Monster

“Has Murphysboro’s “Big Muddy Monster” of mid-1973 returned? No one knows for sure, but four truckers on Illinois 3 near the Illinois 149 junction west of Murphysboro said they saw something Sunday night that they can’t explain. Jackson County officials said radio reports from Randolph County show the four northbound truckers called into Randolph County on citizens ‘ band radios and reported seeing what they described as a “bear like animal on Illinois 3, about three miles south of Il linois 149. Jackson County does not have equipment to receive citizen’s band messages. The equipment is to be installed within a few weeks. One of the truckers said the large dark animal at the side of the road “looked like a gorilla.” The sightings apparently occurred just south of a United States Forest Service rest area near thick woods. ‘ Police said descriptions by the truckers are similar to several “monster” descriptions supplied by eyewitnesses in the Murphysboro area in June 1973. The “Big Muddy Monster, which took its name from two sightings close to the Big Muddy River, first was reported by a couple parked in a lot near a boat dock on South 24th Street in Riverside Park. The second sighting was by a young couple at a home in Westwood Hills Subdivision, on high ground above the river and Riverside Park. Descriptins from both sightings wrere of a “seven-foot tall light-haired muddy monster.”

News stories on the sighting brought inquires from all parts of the nation including official inquires from scientists studying reports of similar in stances. Scientific investigation identifies many of the sightings as a Sasquatch, more commonly known as “Big Foot,” and usually associated with Northern California and Oregon. Interest in the Big Muddy Monster is still high though. Murphysboro Police reported today they have been advised a team is en route to Murphysboro from the Kansas City Star newspaper. A similar team camped out several days in the river bottoms in 1973 seeking factual evidence connected to the June sightings.

Mothman 1975 Style…

One evening, about 100 people saw a huge craft, “seven stories high,” emerging from the waters of the Ohio River. “It drifted slowly high above the river, then from the craft sped a dozen smaller vessels. They hovered motionless for half an hour, then moved away and disappeared. We called it the mother-ship and its scouts. “At least one person had a Polaroid camera and used it. But every picture turned out completely black.” The strange craft, with lights blazing, were seen patrolling the skies for months. Staring eyes “The lives of everyone who saw it were changed in some way,” said Linda. “I was divorced. The Malletes who first saw it with us refuse to even discuss it and live strictly on their own. A leading businessman turned to drink. A woman had a miscarriage. People who had never been ill in their lives began to pick up every ailment going.”

It was when the UFO eyewitnesses began to get together to talk about it that the strange things began to happen. I got the stories of people, who now refuse to give their names or to be interviewed, who were stalked by the men in black and white, and red and white, checkered shirts. These strangers, singly or in pairs, would be seen emerging from a garage just as the owners returned home.

Chidren who knew nothing about the UFOs or Mothman, reported walking during the night and finding the strangers in the room, just staring at them. i All our lives changed in some way Lonnie McDaniel told of his own experience. “I was in a friend’s house, both of us watching TV. Suddenly the set went black and a voice said, “We’re not finished with you yet.”

Then the film came back on again.” On December 15,1967, a year after the first arrival of Mothman, tragedy and horror struck Point Pleasant. The 700-foot long Silver Bridge spanning the Ohio River collapsed without warning, taking 31 vehicles and carrying 46 people to death in the icy waters. Author Keel is of the opinion that the tragedy was somehow connected to the UFO presence, and so are many of the townspeople.

It was when Mrs. McDaniel tried to contact a woman who had seen Mothman that I experienced for myself the eerie phenomenom of the telephone interference. Clicking The dialing tone had gone for several rings. Then there was silence, then a loud clicking began. Mrs. McDaniel, from the other end of the room, held up the phone. I could distinctly hear the sounds — loud pings and clicks. They continued for five minutes, then the phone went dead. It was not until the next day that I was able to get in touch with the woman, Mrs. Marcella Bennet, 34. Mrs. Bennet was visiting her sister when she met Mothman. “I walked to the back of the car and suddenly it was in front of me. It was about six feet tall, and in the little light there was, I could see its body covered in gray feathers. It was hunched over, looking at me, but I saw no red eyes.” But somehow she got inside the house, and Mothman went after her. Her nephew Ricky slammed the glass door shut and pushed a table against it while the creature battered against the door. Then he grabbed a flashlight and shone it on the thing. Mothman turned and vanished.

Mrs. Bennet had a miscarriage. One woman who kept on delving into the mysterious UFOs was Mary Hyre, a local journalist. One day she told friends of a phone call and a strange male voice telling her: “Soon you’ll be in some other place.” A few weeks later, on February 15,1970, she died suddenly, aged 54. WHATEVER the truth about the Mothman, it has the whole area worried. A few hours after our investigation started Reporter Scott and Photographer Ranns were stopped by police and told to leave the State.

Woman of the Woods…Author Donna Campbell Smith

I’m always looking out for new books on the subject of bigfoot, whether it be fiction or non fiction. While I looking last month I stumbled on a true gem. My Neighbors From the Woods by Donna Campbell Smith. It’s a wonderful tale about a woman living alone in her cabin that starts to notice strange happenings around her property. At first it’s just a large print, then missing chickens, and eventually she has to come to terms that a bigfoot is habitually visiting her property.

When I was looking up some information on the author I realized I stumbled on this amazing woman who was just as interesting to me as her book. I reached out to her in hopes that she might share a bit of her life with all of us. So here is a Q&A with Donna Campbell Smith…

Q. Can you tell me a little bit about your childhood? What you liked to do, family life etc.

A. I grew up in a small town at a time when it was perfectly safe to skate, ride bikes, and play all over the neighborhood. My parents were both good story tellers (we didn’t have tv back then). I loved to read from the time I learned how. My sister was sick a lot, she had chronic asthma. So, I played alone a lot when I was little and developed a great imagination.

Q. Did you have any hobbies you enjoyed?

A. The first hobby I can remember was stamp collecting. I liked collecting things which included a 4-H project of learning about insects. I kept “specimens” in empty medicine bottles and jars. My mother was afraid to come in my rom for fear of what I might have in the closet shelves. Neighbors would bring any weird bugs they found to me for my collection. I’d go to the library for insect books to identify them.

Q. Were you often outdoors? Did you enjoy outdoor activities?

A. I loved playing outdoors: climbing trees, playing with neighborhood children, making “playhouses” by drawing the rooms in the dirt with a stick, and riding my bike and roller skating.

Q. How old were you when you got bit by the writing bug?

A. I think I was a young teen, or maybe 12, when I decided I wanted to write a book. I didn’t get very far with that. But, in school I loved writing assignments, even term papers. I still enjoy researching and writing both fiction and non-fiction. In high school I especially enjoyed learning to write poetry. I still do.

Q. What was the first subject you wrote about?

A. Professionally, I started out writing about horses and horse care. I have an associate degree in equine technology, so I relied on what I’d learned in school and in my own horse business. I wrote for some magazines and was youth editor for an equine website back when dot-com was a big deal. The site eventually when out of business. I continued freelance writing, primarily for horse magazines.

Q. What is your favorite topic to write about?

A. I like to write about nature, travel, history (NC in particular) and people. But as a freelancer I’ve written about a wide variety of subjects. Give me a deadline with the promise of a check at the end and I’ll write it.

Q. For decades you worked in the equine industry. breeding, training etc. What was your favorite part about working with horses? And what made you choose that career?

A. I especially loved working with horses and children. Horses are a great equalizer for kids – especially those who are not athletic or are shy. I dreamed of having my own horse when I was a child. I had an imaginary horse, like most kids had imaginary playmates. I was an adult before I had my own horse. Actually, my husband started it all. He was invited to ride with some of his workmates. Soon he bought a horse, then another for me, then ponies for the children. There was no going back for me. The business was motivated by a need to pay for my horse-habit!

Q. What is the very first book you wrote?

A. My first published book was Pale as the Moon. It is based on the legend of the Lost Colony from a Native American perspective and inspired by the wild horses that roam to this day on NC’s coast. It was originally published by Coastal Carolina Press. When they went out of business I self-published it and it is still my best seller.

Q. Some of your earlier books are used in the school system where you live, what got that started? What are you hoping the students take away from them?

A. Coastal Carolina was a non-profit press and they were very invested in education. They suggested I add a teachers guide to the book (and my 2nd book, An Independent Spirit). They also were first to book me for author visits to elementary schools. In my state 4th graders study North Carolina history and my books were used in some classes for supplemental reading. It was always fun to share what I wrote about with the children. I hoped they would fine reading and learning about our state’s history fun.

Q. Your latest book, “My Neighbors from the Woods” is a book about Bigfoot. What made you pick this topic?

A. I have always been fascinated by bigfoot. During the covid shut down I spent a lot of time watching YouTube channels and started watching ones that shared bigfoot stories. Then I remembered a story I’d read online years ago. It was about a woman who lived in an isolated place and claimed to have befriended a family of bigfoot. I started looking for the story only to find out there were several stories like it. My fictional tale about Maggie and her friends from the woods began to form in my imagination as I heard more of those accounts.

Q. You mentioned hearing tales of them through your dad, can you share one of his tales here?

A. I can’t remember specifics, but Daddy listened to talk radio when he went to bed at night. He also read magazines like True and Argosy which sometimes published stories about bigfoot. I do remember him saying there was a “wild man” that lived in the hills when he was a youngster. He grew up in upstate NY. I don’t think he ever saw this wild man; I am sure I would remember if he said so. I do know the stories about this wild man made an impact. That is because he had reoccurring nightmares about wrestling with one even until I was a child. I remember Mama telling that once when he was dreaming,he woke Mama with his groans and movements in his sleep. She shook his shoulder to wake him up. Instead of waking up he grabbed Mama’s arm and was about to put her in a half-nelson. Her outcry woke him. Mama said she told him, “See if I ever try to wake you up from a nightmare again!” The good thing is that put a stop to his dream.

Q. Are you a Bigfoot believer? If so, what is your theory of his makeup, flesh and blood or a paranormal creature?

A. Yes, I see no good reason not to believe in the existence of an ape-like creature such as bigfoot. I think it is a flesh and blood animal like a bear or deer. There is plenty of wilderness left to provide habitat for such an animal.

Q. Have you ever been out in the woods searching for him yourself?

A. No, I haven’t gone looking. Too old and arthritic now even if I dared. We have a couple of wildlife refuges in eastern NC that have a large bear population. I love going there to drive around looking for and photographing bears. We almost always see bears, but getting good photographs isn’t easy. Part of my inspiration for My Neighbors from the Woods was a woman called The Bear Lady, her name was Kay Grayson. She lived in the coastal wilderness of eastern NC with no running water or electric, in an old trailer, literally in the middle of nowhere. She developed a relationship with bears living in the area. It may seem unbelievable, but I have four hours of video tapes, so I know. She made the videos and sold copies to pay taxes on her land. I often think, “If I were a bigfoot, this area would be a good place to hide out.

I share this, because in addition to helping me visualize my character, Maggie, I know from my experience bear-watching and Ms. Grayson’s tapes, that probably a lot of what folks think are bigfoot could be bears. Not all, but some.

Q. Have you been to Bigfoot Conventions? If so, what do you think about them? And who is someone you met or would like to at these events?

A. I haven’t yet, but I am signed up for a vendor space at the Western North Carolina Bigfoot Festival in Marion, NC September 18th. On Friday, the 17th I will be doing a reading and signing at Maples Coffee Shop in Burnsville, NC (not far from Marion). I am so excited! I hope to be signing a book for Bigfoot! Maybe I can get my picture taken with him, too.

Q. What is next for you? Do you have a new book in the works for us?

A. I have pulled a novel out of my files for my next book. I wrote it at least 20 years ago. It’s a “coming of age story” of a woman who married as a teenager in the 60s, raises three children and experiences hard times in doing so. It’s a time of conflict, both personally and in the environment of that decade of war, racial unrest and change within the confines of a small Southern town.

Bigfoot’s Fourth of July Field Notes…

Well it’s that time of year again. One of the few days you fools leave me alone in the woods to myself, while you go try to get blown up by fireworks 💥.

I myself am not a fan of explosions and fire. Hair catches fire to easily you know. That is why you never see any evidence of fire from us. No sir..but no matter how many times your houses, lawns, decks and fingers catch fire you keep on keeping on.

Someone has even set the forest on fire, my forest here, on 🔥 fire, that cannot happen again. Some of my forest friends don’t make out as lucky as I.

You don’t know this, but while you’re taking a break from following me, I get a chance to observe you. I’ve even crept up to the edge of your backyards. And let me tell you something. You have not seen stupid if you haven’t observed a backyard Fourth of July party. Allow me share some of my field notes with you..

1. First off, It’s to Hot to have an outdoor party, your guests are roasting and you don’t have a pool. New rule, if you don’t have a pool, you are not allowed to have a summer party. Period.

2. Omg! Tell that awful band to stop croaking already. Dear hairy god, could they be anymore Wedding Singer bad.

3.There actually can be to much red, white and blue. Blinking glasses, hats and even shirts. People, just no.

4. Now let’s talk about cuisine. I’m sorry, how long exactly has that potato salad been out. And are those flys on top of it. Those hot dogs are more shriveled than, well all right I’ll spare you the end of that sentence. But it has a lot to do with cold water. Which no one here has to worry about , because you don’t have a pool!!!!.

5. And now your host..blinking flag guy. Your friends husband, whom you can’t deal with but you feel obligated. He has no shirt on. Hairier chest than me with blinking shorts that say “is that a light in my shorts, or do they just light up whenever I see you?”

6. The other guests. Really, hahaha if those were my friends I’d take off and live in the woods somewhere. Oh wait, I already do. Guess mine suck too.

7. Let’s get ready to rumble..and now the main event. The one not staring Ryan O’Neil and Barbara Streisand. The fireworks 🎇 💥🔥🙌. The ones you are about to light up, next to all the other fireworks. Fool. But I’m prepared to run, always. That’s what I do. You have no clue what you’re doing. You’re letting blinking shorts man light them, while children are around and you’re only 20 feet from your house! And he’s throwing the used ones in the fire pit! The one 10 feet from the fireworks. Omg, I can’t watch anymore it’s to much.

I’d like to say if I shared this with you, you would learn a lesson and be safer and smarter next year. But this is the second time blinking shorts has burned his hair off…

The house, lawn and hairy chest went up in flames. The end of field 📝 notes.

Happy Fourth of July everyone have a great day!

Bigfoot in the News #12 Bigfoot and Wildlife Fish and Game…

What if, while hiking through the’ Oregon woods, you stumbled across the legendary Bigfoot monster, – roped the beast and took it home. Next, you reported your catch to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Would the agency know what to do? Yes, says the agency, and to prove its readiness has written a lengthy news release describing just what it would do about your call.

if You Catch a Bigfoot By SAM HARTZ WASHINGTON (AP)

What if, while hiking through the’ Oregon woods, you stumbled across the legendary Bigfoot monster, – roped the beast and took it home. Next, you reported your catch to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Would the agency know what to do? Yes, says the agency, and to prove its readiness has written a lengthy news release describing just what it would do about your call.

But why. you might ask, has the U.S. government gone to such lengths over the possible capture of what, at least so far, is just a legend of long standing. Well. Fish and Wildlife reminds us, the gorilla was only a legend until the late 19th century. The komodo dragon, a 10-foot lizard, once a legend also.

To be sure’, added the agency, many sightings of today’s legendary “monsters’,’, are misinterpreted reports or even downright hoaxes. But there’s more to be said for the existence of a genuine Bigfoot. Not only have there been “sightings” of the purported 8- foot, 900-pound Pacific Northwest humanoid, but Skaminia County, Washington, is prepared to impose a fine of $10,000 and a 5-year jail term on anyone who kills a Bigfoot,. Last year the Florida and Oregon legislatures took up bills protecting Bigfoot-type creatures, and a Bureau of Indian Affairs policeman has a plaster cast of an 18-inch foot left after he claimed seeing Bigfoot in South Dakota.

So if Bigfoot were found, what then? The agency set up a scenario: “Word of its discovery would be flashed around the world within hours. Hysteria, fear or panic might accompany the news in the area where the creature was located. The throngs of curiosity seekers, would-be countless and others wanting to find Bigfoot would not only create a serious threat to the animal itself, but to public safety as well … .” And, asks Fish and Wildlife: “Would such a creature be subjected to the same kind of exploitation as the giant movie ape, King Kong?” Hardly, if the Interior could help it. : After receiving priority protection under Endangered.’ Species Bigfoot would undergo humdrum processing for term safeguarding. The following would be, How big is the Bigfoot population? Do Bigfeet occur anywhere else? Is the Bigfoot population in danger? Is Bigfoot’s habitat secure? Are the Bigfoot species being exploited? And what is Bigfoot’s reproductive cycles? “But for the record,” Keith Schreiner, associate director, “I doubt we’ll have to do anything, because I’m not sure I believe there any around here in the first place.” :

Article with a Bigfoot Researcher…Bigfoot in the News #10

When loggers mentioned strange footprints in the woods, Edson would pack up his gear after work and spend that night and the next day tracking Bigfoot. Some nights, Edson said, the creature’s moans would keep him awake all night. At other times. . he’d catch a whiff of Bigfoot’s characteristic foul odor. Bigfoot though, he keeps a low profile Edson is sure that Marukarara. the Karok term for Bigfoot, doesn’t appear before men unless the creature is curious – or angry. “They hate all logging equipment because they think it is spoiling their environment.” Edson said, and that’s the explanation he offers for his one experience with a violent Bigfoot. .
Edson said he was waiting to unload a truckful of logs at a landing when “this thing came down from the hills. He began beating the hood of the truck with his arms,” Edson said . “He didn’t want me or he could’ve broken the window and grabbed me” Instead. Edson theorizes, the creature was disturbed by the logging.”

“A black, ape-like creature passed by Charles Edson’s hiding place. Then slowly turned and stared directly at the hunter. . “It knew I was there all the time,” Edson said. Bigfoot. Sasquatch. Marukarara. the Giant -Mountains People. Edson’s years of stalking the alleged creatures have made him a Bigfoot booster and given him material for his first book, “My Travels With Bigfoot ” . Edson’s account of his search for Marukarara from 1952 to 1967 is unusual in the annals of Bigfoot books because it is a first-person account that features several face-to-face encounters with the alleged creature. . The. Bigfoot field Is a natural for skeptics, but Crescent Publications of Los Angeles is not one of them. Crescent forwarded Edson a $1,500 advance payment for ‘Travels” and organized a book party for Saturday at 7 pm in the Newark Pavilion.

Bigfoot photos, casts of footprints, and a film will be shown. Edson will autograph copies of what he calls “A True Life Odyssey.” Edson looks like he’d be more at home pursuing mysterious, howling creatures across Northern California mountains than standing around publishers’ parties. A burly man, the logger and part-. time deputy sheriff, in Siskiyou County bears a faint resemblance to actor Richard Boone.

More than 25 years ago. Edson was introduced to the bizarre world of Bigfoot by a Karok Indian, Barry Harper. Harper and Edson were hunting one day when the quiet Karok showed Edson footprints made by some huge creature. They were 15 to 17 inches long, with large toes, like the misshapen footprint of a huge man, Edson said. In the high country north of the Trinity Alps. Harper showed Edson many of the tracks. Edson was intrigued, but not a great believer. I kept hunting and hunting and one day I found it.” he said. On a ridge about a mile away from Edson.

He saw what looked like a black bear on its hind legs. As he continued to watch, though. Edson said he was convinced that he was spying on Bigfoot. “It was like (catching) gold fever.” he said. For the next 12 years, he would chase after evidence of Bigfoot, forming theories about what the creature is and how it behaves.

Edson theorizes, the creature was disturbed by the logging. Indians told Edson that A Murakarara used to feed near the Klamath river but an increased number or people . Mainly loggers chased them back up the mountains. So what are these thing? . ‘ Edson offered two possibilities – “missing links between apes and men on the evolutionary scale, or a tribe of primitive Indians afflicted by a hereditary aisease. . Other Bigfoot theories advanced by Edson’ include these . During winter, they keep warm by sticking moss to their hairy body with tree sap. Only solo Bigfoot have been reported or spotted, but Edson believes they travel in family groups. ,” , Bigfoot understands that men are interested in him. but is wary of outsiders – especially those ‘ , carrying anything metallic.

Edson eventually gave up carrying a gun on Murakarara expeditions and said it helped his hunting. Bigfoot is sneaky. Its bones have never been found, and Edson said he’s seen the creature erasing its tracks before. Although Fremont is far from the haunts of Bigfoot. an entire room of Edson’s home is devoted to Bigfoot souvenirs – from dozens of plaster casts of footprints to newspaper clippings about the beast.

Due to an ailment, it’s been years- since he tracked Bigfoot. but he used the year and a half of his convalescence period to compose: . “Travels” This summer. Edson promised, he’ll be back to Bigfoot country, searching for the definitive proof that has eluded him and other Bigfoot fanciers. And the ailment that has kept him from hunting the Marukarara is just a coincidence, he said with a laugh, my feet were operated on.”

I really enjoyed this article. Edson and I seem to share a lot of the same theories to what a Bigfoot could be. The missing link or a split somewhere on the evolutionary scale.

And also the bit where he mentions not wanting to take anything metallic such as a gun with him. That is definitely my thoughts exactly. If they are there in the woods with me somewhere I don’t want them to think I’m going to harm them in any way. Or drag them home. I want them to stay wild and live in peace.

Every Bigfoot researcher, like myself, have different theories to whether they are man or ape, and they also have different approaches to what they like to do in the field. Carry film equipment? Weapons? Passive like me,etc. It’s a good thing because until we get a chance to ask one personally we need to try everything.

Have an awesome Sunday everyone and keep on Squatchin on…

Sleep Little One…

In this vision I see
This baby…whose soul deep trusting eyes are looking at me
Looking at me with aww and wonder
And I think, how could this be?
This magnificent, magnificent creature
I need to make sure he always stays free
Not an experiment in some sterile cruel cage
Like we’ve done to every other wondrous creature no matter the age
It’s the littlest thing I could do
Because I know what humanity will do to you
Would that I could keep you in your mother’s arms
Safe and loved away from harm
No “I told you so” to the science community
Would ever be worth
Having a young snatched from their momma soon after birth
Feelings are feelings
Love is love
Life is so precious
And fragile like a dove
So sleep little one
Snuggle in tight
Mamma will protect you till the time is right
Maybe someday I’ll see you when I’m wide awake
So you may see what wonder and aww looks my eyes make…
For all the creatures under humanities thumb..
